WARS OF
PLUNDERAll Powers Are Cruel

English translation in preparation

When does belief become power, and war become plunder?

From creation narratives to Mecca and Medina, from conquests and struggles over the caliphate to Karbala and the Qarmatians, the novel builds a wide historical panorama of faith, power and violence.

Spoils, warfare, sacred legitimacy and political calculation are not treated as isolated episodes, but as recurring structures through which power reproduces itself across history.

One Author, Many Books, and Toward a Hopeful Future

İsmail Metin Ayçiçek’s foreword does more than introduce the novel. It also considers M. Mehmet Ünver’s literary development, productivity, hermeneutic approach and broader trajectory as a writer.

“If I were to research hermeneutics in literature, I would probably find it very difficult to find a better example than Ünver.”

About the Novel

The birth,
language and
victims of power

Wars of Plunder brings together historical narratives that are often read in isolation and places them inside one broad literary movement. Its scope extends from creation stories through Mecca and Medina to conquests, struggles for succession, Karbala and the Qarmatians.

At its center is the relationship between religious interpretation, political authority and material interest. Warfare, plunder and sacred power are examined not simply as events of the past, but as structures whose consequences continue to shape human societies.

This English-language page introduces the work, its themes and its reception. Because a complete English literary translation has not yet been published, it intentionally contains no translated chapters, English PDF or audio sample.
